Warrior Woman

Are any of you out there old enough to remember Cliff Richard's song "Devil Woman"? By way of a TV ad or radio song, the melody ingrained itself on my brain a few days ago.  What a blast from the past it was to find it on YouTube, and hum along as Cliff sang "She's just a devil woman, with evil on her mind. Beware the devil woman, she's gonna get you ..." Let's be honest -- horrid lyrics that make me cringe -- but a relentless melody that I just can't shake.

I'm borrowing Cliff's melody (well, actually, the song was written by Terry Britten and Christine Hodgson), and putting my own empowering lyrics to it.  It goes something like this:

     I'm just a Warrior Woman,
     With fighting on my mind.
     Beware the Warrior Woman,
     I'm gonna beat you ...
     I'm just a Warrior Woman,
     With healing on my mind.
     Beware the Warrior Woman,
I'm gonna kick you from behind.

If I was really adventurous, I would have found a karaoke version, recorded myself singing the new lyrics, and posted it on YouTube.  I wasn't that adventurous!!

Ever since I got my phone call to start radiation, I can literally feel my insides gearing up to fight again.  Yes, I've been eating healthy; yes, I've been working out.  However, radiation feels like "Round Three" of the "Battle for my Life"!  Surgery was Round One; Chemo was Round Two; Radiation is Round Three.

Let the battle begin!

    1. As soon as I decided to start blogging, I told myself that if my words helped EVEN ONE PERSON, then the hours of writing were well worth it. Thank you for saying my thoughts are "inspirational and helpful"! I know writing them is helpful to me, and I am grateful that reading them is helpful to you! Thinking of you as you walk your journey.
